New Zealand A team currently playing in India against India A, so remaining six spots will be filled by the players from the New Zealand A squad.
The New Zealand tour of India will begin on October 22. The 1st ODI of three-match series will be played at Wankhede Stadium Mumbai. After three ODI series, New Zealand will also be scheduled to play three T20I also.
Allrounder James Neesham and batsman Neil Broom will be dropped from the New Zealand initial squad against India. Jeetan Patel and Luke Ronchi have retired from international cricket already while fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan has opted out himself from national contract for his interest in T20 leagues.
“The nine we’ve picked have made up the core of our ODI team for a while and all of them have experience playing in India,” said New Zealand coach Mike Hesson. “With a number of our top guys already playing in India, it’s helpful to be able to select the squad in two parts. With six spots left, there’s an obvious incentive for the players in New Zealand A to perform and put their best foot forward.”
