NewZealand attacking opening batsman Colin Munro came to the limelight as he hits his second T20 international century.
Along with his attacking batting skills, Munro is also an effective medium-pace bowler. Munro hit a century in the second T20I against India in Rajkot. With Munro century, New Zealand beat India in the second game and level the series 1-1 with 1 match to go.
Munro was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad during the 2016 IPL season but not playing a single game. He then released by KKR management before the 2017 IPL and went unsold at the auction.
But his performance in the recent T20 series is far better. He also put a healthy score in the Caribbean Premier League and so will be a hot pick in the upcoming IPL auction for 2018 season.
A KKR team official too stated that Munro was released ahead of the last IPL only because of his international commitments with NZ and not because of form or quality. “The KKR management realized that he could feature for NZ in a Tri-series during the IPL and that’s why they released him. Even before he was part of the IPL, he got picked for Trinbago Knight Riders, also run by KKR owners. He will be certainly the one to watch out for in the next IPL auction,” said the official.
