Latham – Taylor Record Partnership Lead New Zealand To Victory

The 200th match of Indian skipper Virat Kohli was not ended on a higher side as New Zealand beat India by 6 wickets.

Tom Latham and Ross Taylor lead all the way for New Zealand to win the first ODI of three-match series against India and lead the series 1-0.

After winning the toss, Virat Kohli elected to bat first but both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan departs cheaply. Both openers failed to give India a solid start.

This was the 200th ODI for Indian skipper and he made his day by scoring his 31st century and become the second highest centurion in the ODI cricket. He is now behind the great Sachin Tendulkar who scored 49 ODI hundred.

India finally manages to score 280 runs with the brilliant 121 from skipper Kohli. New Zealand openers give the solid start to their team. But soon Indian bowlers bounced back and New Zealand loses three wickets on 80 runs.

But then Taylor and Latham put the record-breaking partnership of 200 runs for New Zealand which led New Zealand to victory. Both batsman effectively neutralises two Indian spinners and never allow them to take wickets.

Taylor missed their century by 5 runs while Latham remains not out on 103. The second ODI of the series will be playing on 25th October in Pune.
