If all goes well then the timing of IPL games could have changed from next year’s IPL. The IPL started in 2007 and till now, the match beginning time for day game is 3 pm and 8 pm for the night game.
The night game was extended well past midnight that causing the problem to the fans at the stadium and players too.
In general council meeting of IPL, the IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla floated the idea to start early. This idea welcomed by all the franchises but it would depend on the broadcaster.
If the television broadcasters Star India approved the BCCI’s proposal then we could see changes in the timing of next year IPL matches.
“It was just a thought (starting game at 7 pm) and everyone welcomed it but first we need to speak to the broadcaster and take their nod. We will work on modalities then. There have been many centers where traveling is a major concern. All the issues were discussed and we all thought to start the game but early,” IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla told The Indian Express.
Mid-term transfers during IPL is yet another important development that has been approved. Like European football leagues, the IPL governing council will have the mid-tournament window where a player who has played only two games out of seven league games can be transferred to other teams.
“Every IPL owner agreed to have this in the forthcoming season. It will give chance to those players who are good but are not getting opportunities to be part of playing XI of any IPL side. We are having an IPL governing council meeting soon to finalize all these points,” Shukla added further.
