Sri Lanka gives tough time to India in the first test of the three-match series. Then in ODI, Sri Lanka again give the shock to India in the first ODI and win it but it was never in the case of T20 Internationals.
The first T20I of three-match series was played at Cuttack on Wednesday and India thrash Sri Lanka and registered their biggest win in T20 international cricket. India defeats Sri Lanka by 93 runs.
On a good batting track in Cuttack, Sri Lankan captain Thisara Perera won the toss and decided to field first due to the probable effect of due. Indian captain Rohit Sharma only score 17 runs. But another opener KL Rahul score brilliant 61 runs from 48 balls. In the end, MS Dhoni and Manish Pandey score some quick runs that help India to put 180 runs on the board for the loss of 3 wickets. Dhoni scores 39 runs while Pandey scores 32 of 18 balls.
Sri Lanka needs good partnership to chase down 180 runs. Dickwella departs early and only score 13 runs. Upul Tharanga looks good but does not score big. No Sri Lankan batsmen further able to score some runs and at last Sri Lanka bowled out for 87 runs in 16 overs. Indian spinners did a good job and both Chahal and Kuldeep take wickets. Chahal takes 4 wickets while Kuldeep takes 2 Sri Lankan wickets. All-rounder Hardik Pandya also takes three important wickets. At last, India won the match by 93 runs, their highest in T20 Internationals.
Chahal won the Man of the Match award for his four wickets in the match. India now leads the three-match T20 series by 1-0.
The second T20I of the series will be played at Holkar Stadium, Indore on 22 December.
