The three-match T20 international series between India and New Zealand will starts from Wednesday 1st November. This T20I series is itself very important for both teams.
New Zealand will look to win the series to maintain its number 1 position in ICC T20 international ranking. New Zealand has 125 points in the ranking and has only 1 point difference to the number 2 ranked Pakistan who has 124 points. To maintain its position, New Zealand needs to beat India in the upcoming T20I series.
On the other hand, the situation is somehow unexpected for the men in blue. India had never won a single T20 international against New Zealand. India is very strong side, especially on their home grounds. They desperately want to change this embarrassing record against New Zealand.
The first match also has much importance for some other reason too. This T20I match will be going to be the last international appearance for the veteran Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra. Nehra announced earlier that he will retire from international cricket after the Delhi T20 against New Zealand. So Indian team definitely wants to win this match for Ashish Nehra to give him a farewell gift in his home ground.
New Zealand played some really impressive cricket in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against India. Munro, Latham, Boult, Santner are some names who did well in the ODI series and New Zealand will definitely be looking for them to carry their form in T20 too.
