The second ODI between India and Australia is won by India by 50 runs. The match is not high scoring yet the interest is same.
After winning the toss, Indian skipper Virat Kohli choose to bat first on the humid and dehydrated condition in Kolkata. The start of Indian inning is not so good, Rohit Sharma departs early. But then Ajinkya Rahane and skipper Virat Kohli start building the innings. Kohli miss yet another century here in Kolkata as he is bowled out by Counter-Nile on 92. And thus India bowled out for 252 finally.
While chasing a decent score of 252, Australia needs a good start but unfortunately, that was not the case. Both the openers out for 1 run each. There was a perfect display of bowling by the Indian bowlers and also Kuldeep Yadav takes a hat-trick. He was third Indian who claim a hat-trick in ODI. The Australia is finally bowled out on 202 and thus India wins the second ODI by 50 run margin.
In the post-match presentation, Australian Skipper Steve Smith also admire Indian Bowling, “We were pretty happy with 250, thought we pulled things back pretty well. Did a really good job there. Batters though made poor decisions, and you can’t-do that against a quality team like India. Stoinis was good at the end there, just needed someone to bat with. One of the top four needs to go on and make a hundred, just making poor decisions under pressure. To reduce India to 250 on that was pretty good. Need to get those partnerships; if we do that then we should chase these totals down comfortably. They’ve got all bases covered, don’t they?” he said.
The 3rd ODI of the series will be played on Sunday in Indore. India will definitely look to seal the series while Australia wants to come back in the series.
