BCCI on Friday confirmed the rest given to Hardik Pandya. Initially, Hardik Pandya was named in the 16 man squad for the first two test against Sri Lanka but then selection committee, after consulting the team management, opted to rest him considering his recent workload.
Hardik Pandya has been featured in all format. He made his test debut against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. Pandya has played 22 ODI, three tests and five T20 internationals since Indian Premier League 2017.
After Sri Lanka tour, India will have very important tour of South Africa so to consider that aspect, Indian selectors want to have all top players available for that tour. Earlier, it was also in news that Virat Kohli would also be rested during the one-day series against Sri Lanka in December.
