King Kohli, the modern chase master, along with Manish Pandey guided India to win one off T20 against Sri Lanka on Wednesday. It was an all around performance by team India as they blown away the host in all three format in this tour.
Firstly they whitewash Sri Lanka by 3-0 in Test, then 5-0 in ODIs and lastly in one off T20. It was all authority from team India against Sri Lanka in this tour.
Chasing the target of 171, Virat Kohli blasted his 17th fifty as India thrashed Sri Lanka by seven wickets to clinch the one-off T20I and end the tour having won all their games. Both the openers early but were steadied by Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey who stitched together a 119-run partnership. For Sri Lanka, Lasith Malinga finished with the figures of 1/31.
Kohli went past 1000 runs in a chase in T20Is and his performance sums up India’s dominance on what has been a magnificent tour. He is now behind Brendon Macculam to the most runs in International T20.
“Very special, it (whitewash across formats) hasn’t been done before. Credit to all the hard work that the boys have put in over the past couple of months in all formats of the game” said Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
“That’s evidence of the fact how hungry the players are in Indian cricket. The bench strength is coming through so beautifully…results are amazing to see as a captain,” he added.
