Ashes series has finally come to an end but what an Ashes this was especially for Australia. They were all over in the five-match series and finally won the Ashes by 4-0.
In the fifth and final test of the series in Sydney, Australia shows their dominance again and beat England by an inning and 123 runs.
On the fifth day of the final test, Australia bowled out England on just 180 runs and won the match. After winning the toss England skipper Joe Root decided to bat first on the spin-friendly wicket of SCG. England bowled out of 346 runs in the first inning. In response, Australia declared their first inning on 649 runs. Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh and Mitchell Marsh score brilliant century in the first inning of Australia. No England bowler put Australian batsmen in any kind of pressure and Australian batsmen score freely and take a lead of 303 runs in the first inning.
With 303 runs to get down to take any lead in the second inning, England need some really good effort from their batsmen but they fail to do so. No England batsmen except skipper Joe Root survive against the quality bowling of Australia.
Pat Cummins takes four important wickets in the second inning, overall 8 in the match, and won the Man of the Match award. Australian skipper is in the form of his life and score 687 runs with an average of 137.40 in the seven innings of the series and thus won the Man of the Series award.
