In what comes to be the historic decision for Afghanistan cricket, officials from BCCI and Afghanistan Cricket Board agrees to play a test match in India. Thus Afghanistan is all set to play their first ever test match against the world number 1 team India.

In the special general meeting which held on Monday, BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary revealed the news in a press conference.
“Afghans were scheduled to play their first Test in 2019 versus Australia but considering the historical relationship between India and Afghanistan, we decided to host their first Test,” Amitabh said.
Shafiq Stanikzai, the chief executive of the ACB, said that it’s a huge achievement for Afghanistan Cricket.
“For a nation like Afghanistan, it is a huge and remarkable achievement,” he said.
Although the date of the Afghanistan inaugural test match is still not decided. It is expected to be somewhere in 2018.
Earlier this year, Ireland and Afghanistan were awarded Test status by the ICC in June. Ireland will play their first ever test match against Pakistan in May 2018 and now Afghanistan is also expected to play their first test in 2018 too against India.
